Nidia Lasso continues a proud family tradition, working side-by-side with her father in the highlands of San Pedro de Cartago, a town nestled in the Andes mountains of southwestern Colombia. Nidia practices thoughtful and sustainable land stewardship: on her 12-hectare farm, shade trees, plantain, and cassava grow alongside coffee plants.
Curiosity drives Nidia to constantly experiment, collaborate, and learn. She cultivates exceptional varieties like Gesha, Pink and Yellow Bourbon, and Ethiopian; to process her harvests, Nidia employs a range of methods including washed, honey, and natural processes.
Grown, hand-harvested, and washed with tremendous care by Nidia and her team, this offering is an excellent representation of the gesha variety. Gesha originated in Ethiopia’s Gori Gesha forest; today it’s prized by producers and roasters throughout the world for its complex, floral character and exceptional cup quality.
This coffee has everything we want in a great gesha: a clean body bursting with juicy melon and floral sweetness in every sip. Just as the earth around us is exploding with the warm sun, fresh life, and blooming flowers of spring in St. Louis, this is a cup that beautifully captures the energy of the season.
