Staff Profile: Ethan Heberer - Blueprint Coffee

Ethan Heberer has been a dedicated member of the Blueprint team for quite some time. He currently serves as a Barista at Blueprint Coffee Watson.

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT THE CAFÉ, AND WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF THE JOB?

I am a barista at the Watson café. I love making drinks. You could park me at the machine all day with good music, and it would be a dream.

WHAT PROMPTED YOUR INTEREST IN COFFEE?

I worked making large-format signage after my undergrad and would always go to a cafe during my breaks. So, when I moved from California, I thought it could be a good chance to get into coffee and give it a go.

IF YOU COULD ENJOY A CUP OF COFFEE WITH ANYONE IN THE WORLD, WHO WOULD IT BE?

I would probably choose my wife’s late grandpa Loren. I never really got to meet him, but somehow I feel connected to him, and her whole family says we would have been buds. I only know him through his photographs, which are so rad.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO COFFEE ORDER AT BLUEPRINT?

Usually, shots over ice or just some drip. I’ve really been liking the Peruvian stuff we have been getting lately. San Ramón is a new favorite.

WHAT ARE YOUR PASSIONS OUTSIDE OF COFFEE?

I spend all my free time making art. I have an Etsy shop called Flowering Peace, and you can find all my goofy stuff there or on Instagram @floweringpeaceshop. I also love collecting music and have been skateboarding my whole life.

HOPES, DREAMS, DESIRES FOR THE FUTURE?

I really hope I get the chance to learn how to roast someday! I’ve been interested in that for a long time. Other than that, I’d like to live a nice simple life with my sweet wife and pup. I can’t wait to be a dad someday.
