I knew nothing of Junip when I received their 2nd & self-titled LP, “Junip” as a birthday present. On first listen, it reminded me of a modern cross between the Velvet Underground, Dylan’s “Nashville Skyline,” and the Dandy Warholes (read folk + drugs). After 5-6 listens, I couldn’t keep the rhythmic cast of tunes out of my head. It’s a record that is perfect for a smooth and steady turn of folks through the coffeebar. It will keep you working, but won’t get you worked up.
