This practical and hands-on training teaches attendees how to pull shots of espresso using a commercial espresso machine and grinder. The trainings starts by discussing the many varying definitions and expectations of espresso. Next, a brief overview of how espresso equipment functions is shared with the class. Then, the majority of the class is spent demonstrating and practicing preparing shots of espresso using recipes, scales, and timers. A brief overview of strength and extraction is covered along with advice on how to evaluate espresso by taste and sight. The course covers the best practices for adjusting the grind to the recipe (aka “dialing-in”). Lastly, the course covers daily cleaning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
