Coffee Origin Profile: Colombia
August 30 @ 2:30 pmFree
This coffee origin profile features Colombia, the world’s largest producer of washed Arabica coffee. From its rise in the mid-1900’s through successful national marketing to astonishing microlots and farm techniques, Colombia boasts some of the most incredible coffee and coffee people.
We’ve traveled back and forth to Colombia many times. Therefore, finally finding Elias Roa Parra and Finca Tamana brings us back year after year. His model of sustainability gives us hope for quality relationships and trade in Colombia.
First, we’ll share the basic coffee history of Colombia. Next, we’ll explain farming and trade structures within Colombia. We then devote a good amount of time to sharing videos and photos covering our relationships and partners in Colombia. Last, we’ll explore the relationships we have and have had in Colombia and how they shape our future sourcing.
We dedicate a small amount of time to discussing some of the challenges and politics affecting trade. However, we do not possess the expertise to properly diagnose or remedy these issues. We share them as part of our dedication to transparency.
The coffee origin profile on Colombia includes samples of any Colombian coffees we currently offer at Blueprint. Additionally, we invite everyone, coffee bar guests and wholesale partners, to attend this profile.
