A History of Coffee – February 9th

February 9 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$30
Workers in Ethiopia rake washed coffee to ensure it dries evenly.

Join us for a 2-hour comprehensive exploration of the rich history of coffee, its impact on global colonization, and the evolution of the specialty coffee industry. From its ancient roots in Ethiopia to its modern-day presence in our lives, this course offers a comprehensive look at the evolving relationship between coffee and the world. The class will begin with the discovery of coffee and its impact on the communities who first used it, touching on traditions, beliefs, and the many hands which brewed it far before it came into colonist hands and markets.

From there the conversations shift to the history and its rise in Europe then to coffee’s inevitable presence in the Americas whilst exploring the historical ties between coffee and colonization as it spread across the planet. This class delves into the global significance of coffee today while unraveling its intricate past. The purpose of this class is to have a conversation and a moment to truly unveil the story behind one of the world’s most mysterious yet beloved beverages.
